International meeting in  Brussel

The final international meeting of our "The Green Triangle" project took place in Brussels, where all core teams from the three countries reunited. This gathering provided a valuable opportunity for reflection on their nearly year-long journey and included the privilege of meeting with EU-level decision-makers.

The project team had productive discussions at the Bureau International Jeunesse, the European Parliament, and the European Commission's Education for Climate department.

Our project isn’t just about what we achieved during its official timeline but also about what will carry on afterward. That’s why our core team created follow-up plans to ensure that the ideas and values of "The Green Triangle" continue to grow and inspire even after the project ends.

Apricot plogging

Another event organized within the scope of this project was "Apricot Plogging"! Plogging combines picking up litter with jogging or walking at a leisurely pace, making it a great way to stay healthy while helping the environment. Participants had the opportunity to make new friends and connections, immerse themselves in Yerevan’s vibrant summer atmosphere, and contribute to a cleaner, greener city.

 International Hackathon

In May 2024, everyone headed to the charming village of Buc in Slovakia for the international hackathon. Here, the teams developed innovative ideas and IT solutions to address environmental problems. During the presentations, the jury selected the winning team, while all participating teams received financial support from their organizations to implement their hackathon projects.

Additionally, the participants met with the mayor of Svodin to learn about the municipality's actions and programs aimed at fostering eco-conscious behavior among locals. The core teams also discussed the upcoming study visit to Brussels, where they will meet with EU-level decision-makers

Ready for more!

With considerable progress made, the core teams gathered in Tsaghkadzor, Armenia, for the second international meeting in March 2024. This meeting served as a time for reflection on their journey so far, allowing them to discuss their challenges and learning experiences, fostering empowerment and growing confidence.

The core teams  held workshops focused on negotiation, decision-making, and change-making, acquiring valuable skills that will aid them in future dialogues with decision-makers within the project. They also discussed plans for the upcoming hackathon to be held in Slovakia, preparing to develop creative and impactful ideas for the next stages of the project.

Feeling Empowered

In February 2024, all teams conducted intensive three-day national workshops for their peers, focusing on developing green competencies and fostering a more caring attitude toward nature and environmental issues. These workshops provided a safe space for discussions about both local and global environmental challenges, encouraging young people to propose solutions.

For the core teams, organizing these workshops was a valuable experience in logistics, management, and facilitation. The workshops engaged 75 young people in total.

The Armenian workshop was particularly notable, as it successfully engaged young participants from all 11 regions of the country, ensuring a broader outreach and a stronger multiplier effect.

Awareness raising campaigns

The next stage of the project involved awareness-raising campaigns conducted across all participating countries between January and February 2024. The Armenian core team members organized five offline campaigns in four regions of Armenia: Gyumri, Vanadzor, Bagratashen, and Yerevan. These efforts engaged more than 50 peers, promoting and advocating for a green lifestyle.

Getting Ready!

The first international meeting of our project was held in December 2023 in Poland, bringing together 15 enthusiastic young people from Armenia, Poland, and Slovakia who are our core team. This in-person gathering was a valuable opportunity for team members to strengthen their bonds and prepare for the journey ahead.

The primary focus of the meeting was on team-building and solidifying the key topics they will advocate for to promote a more sustainable and eco-conscious Europe. A crucial aspect of the gathering was empowering these youngsters as change-makers and to feel confident in engaging in dialogue with decision-makers. Together, they confirmed their commitment to work towards our shared goal of creating a positive impact on the future of our planet Earth.
